We are so proud to share that both E-ACT Heartlands Academy and E-ACT Braintcroft Academy have received prestigious awards by Pearson, highlighting their outstanding contributions to education, their students and their communities.

E-ACT Heartlands Academy Wins silver award for ‘Making a Difference – Secondary School of the Year.’

Both staff and students at E-ACT Heartlands Academy celebrated the remarkable achievement of winning a silver award in the ‘Making a Difference – Secondary School of the Year’ category. Selected from thousands of nominations, this achievement demonstrates the academies commitment to excellence despite significant challenges.

The academy serves a very diverse student body, with over 50 languages spoken and fewer than one-third of students speaking English as their first language. Despite these challenges, the school excels academically, with students surpassing national averages at GCSE. The academy’s emphasis on attendance and behaviour has resulted in no permanent exclusions over the past five years and exceptionally low rates of fixed-term suspensions.

Headteacher Sophia Haughton, who presented the award to her staff during a morning briefing, expressed her pride:

“We are so proud to receive this award in recognition of our work to provide Heartlands students with the best possible education. We have high expectations of our students and ensure they have the support needed to reach these expectations. It’s about creating a supportive, empowering community where we all work together for a better future.”

The celebrations didn’t stop there!

Andrea Rosewell, Headteacher at E-ACT Braintcroft Academy, wins national award for Headteacher of the Year

Andrea Rosewell, Headteacher at E-ACT Braintcroft Academy, was honoured with a silver award in the ‘Headteacher of the Year’ category. From local dignitaries to former pupils, so many members of the community came together to celebrate Andrea.

The celebration, initially disguised as a ‘thank a teacher day’ assembly, saw Brent Mayor Aslam Choudry and a former pupil presenting the award to Andrea. The community continued the festivities with students dressing up as their teachers and welcoming Brent community members into the academy. Andrea’s celebrations even made it onto BBC The One Show.

Andrea’s leadership has brought significant academic progress and transformation to the academy, it is among the top five percent of primary schools for progress in the country.

National Thank a teacher Day has highlighted the dedication and impact of educators like Sophia and Andrea, whose work continues to inspire and transform our communities and Academies. At E-ACT, we focus on a people-first culture, celebrating our staff’s achievements and dedication.

We can’t wait to celebrate even more of our staff’s contributions at the upcoming Staff Impact Awards in July!
